Protest against decision to shift FP shop

A large number of people on Thursday staged a demonstration in the Main Bazaar area in Udhagamandalam in protest against the administration’s decision to shift the fair price shop elsewhere.
“The authorities have decided to shift the fair price shop functioning near the Main Bazaar area to some other place. The shop has been here for last several years. We will be put to severe hardship if the shop is shifted elsewhere,” they said.
On information, officials rushed to the spot and pacified the protesters, who dispersed after extracting a promise from the authorities that the shop would not be shifted.More than 100 women participated in the protest.
