There are several factories that are discharging effluents into river Bhavani while the authorities turn a blind eye. Fecal coli-forms, the bacteria found in human faeces is over 160 units, which is four times more than what is permissible. The polluted water is supplied as part of 14 drinking water schemes! Even as RTI reveals that the water is toxic, there has not been much action on those discharging effluents.
