In a shocking revelation, The Covai Post has found proved that Gutka is freely available in every nook and corner of the city. Gutka was banned in Tamil Nadu in 2013. As our reporter tried to buy Gutka from petty shops, the shopkeepers took out the substance from hidden boxes and bags. THIS BANNED SUBSTANCE WAS AVAILABLE IN SEVERAL PETTY SHOPS, ALSO THOSE NEAR SCHOOLS AND HOSPITALS.

Even with increased awareness about how tobacco products, especially Gutka, is carcinogenic and Coimbatore being a hub for education, the sale of such products remain high in the city, found The Covai Post.
