DMK erupted in celebrations the moment CBI judge OP Saini pronounced 2G case verdict acquitting all the accused including former telecom minister A Raja and party chief M Karunanidhi’ daughter and Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi.

DMK working president MK Stalin himself distributed sweets to media persons thronging his residence as did other DMK leaders here Chennai and in Delhi.

Firecrackers were burst to welcome the judgment in the case lasting 7 years in which Kanimozhi and Raja spent time in Tihar central jail as well.

Stalin said “it is now proven that the case was only politically motivated to malign one party. It is also no proven that everyone they accused of huge graft innocent.

“I am so happy that I am not able to sit,” Stalin said adding that the court had seen through the false charges levelled against the DMK and its leaders. The DMK was maligned with false charges and now that the court has cleared the party and its leaders of all wrong doing, the party will march ahead with greater force, said DMK spokesperson A Sarvanan.

Congress, DMK ally, said the judgment laid bare the nefarious designs of the BJP to win the 2014 elections with sheer falsehood. “2G was used extensively by the BJP in the 2014 general elections. Our alliance partner has come out clean and with this the Congress and Manmohan Singh ji have come out clean and their stand vindicated,” TNCC Chief S Thirunavakkarasar said.

GK Vasan, a former union minister in UPA and TMC leader, said the bhramasthram of the BJP now stands exposed.
