Kochi: Politician-turned actor Suresh Gopi, MP, of the BJP landed in trouble as police registered an FIR against him for evading road tax by furnishing fake documents to register his vehicle in Puducherry.
Gopi produced a rent receipt for 2014 even as the luxury vehicle was registered in 2010 in Puducherry. He also failed to produce the rent agreement of the house in Puducherry.
The police decided to proceed against Gopi after it was found that he had produced fake documents to evade tax in Kerala.
The FIR also described Gopi as a habitual traffic violator by driving his car 12 times beyond the permitted speed limit.
In a similar case, actor Fahadh Fasil paid Rs 17.68 lakh as tax a few days ago in Kerala.
Actress Amala Paul was summoned by the Motor Vehicles Department in a similar charge.
