Chennai : Hospitals had got an advisory not to give details of the condition of late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa as critical, said Prathap C Reddy, founder and executive chairman of Apollo Hospitals Group, on Saturday.

He told mediapersons that Jayalalithaa came to the hospital in a critical condition and later showed progress. She was admitted on September 22 , 2016 and died on December 5 in the hospital. The statement from the hospital had said she was admitted as she had fever and dehydration.

He did not reveal the source of the advisory, but said the doctors were advised not announce that Jayalalithaa was critical as the authorities would find it difficult to control the emotions of the general public.

He added that he had not received any summons from the one-man inquiry commission set up by the State Government to go into the circumstances leading to Jayalalithaa’s death.
