Justice Karnan, had soon after serving sentence and returning to Tamil Nadu vowed to enter politics and fight the system that he said had allegedly meted out injustice to him.

The former judge had alleged that the judiciary was not completely free from corruption and had levelled serious charges against the judiciary following which his case was taken up by the Supreme Court that sentenced him to six months of imprisonment.

Karnan was the first sitting judge convicted for contempt of court and he had served out his sentence after his retirement in June 2017.
