Kamal Haasan urges PM to visit cyclone affected regions of Tamil Nadu

Chennai : Superstar turned politician, Kamal Haasan on Wednesday urged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and central ministers to tour the cyclone affected districts of Tamil Nadu to assess the extent of damage due to cyclone Gaja.

He flagged off trucks carrying relief materials for the cyclone affected delta region from Tiruchirapalli.

The Makkal Needhi Maiam president Kamal Haasan said that his party activists were already on the field in all the affected districts helping the victims. Today he sent off between 60 and 70 trucks carrying relief material to the affected regions, sources in the party said.

He also urged the chief minister to request the prime minister to declare the cyclone as a national disaster so that the state can receive relief for rebuilding the affected districts where thousands have lost their homes and livelihood.

The president of the newly launched party also said that the compensation of Rs 10 lakh paid to the kin of the deceased to be doubled to Rs 20 lakh.
