Welcoming his decision, BJP state unit chief Tamilisai Soundararajan recalled Rajinikanth’s comments about Jayalalithaa and how she was thrown out, his entry now will make a huge difference to the politics and polity of Tamil Nadu.

Congress leader Americai Narayanan welcomed Rajinikanth’s announcement as did leaders of other political parties.

Rajinikanth declared that honesty and sincerity will be the basis of his politics and political journey.

Inside the venue, people from all walks of life including government officers, police person kept queuing up for a picture with the film superstar-turned politician.

Rajinikanth said if he did not enter politics to clean it up now, it would be betrayal of the love and affection of people across the state who were crying out for good governance.
