Chennai : Superstar Rajinikanth on Saturday maintained suspense over his entry into active and electoral politics when he refuted speculations in a section of the media that he would announce formation of his political party on December 12, his birthday.

He was in Varanasi to complete shooting of his forthcoming film Petta. “We are done with 90 per cent works towards floating our political party. However, it will not happen on 12 December. The name of our political party and party flag would be announced at an appropriate time,” Rajinikanth said maintaining suspense.

The shooting schedule of the film was completed 15 days ahead of time. The firm stars Trisha, Simran, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Vijay Sethupathi and Bobby Simha among others. Anirudh Ravichander has done music for the film.

Briefly answering questions, Rajinikanth responded to a question on Sabarimala that the SC order should be respected but keeping in mind the sentiments of the people. “Traditions should be allowed to follow. It is a matter of faith and belief,” he said. Asked if he opposed the SC order, Rajinikanth said “Women have equal rights and I respect the order, but we should respect traditions, too.”

Rajinikanth also had a word of caution on the Me Too movement saying that it should not be misused.
