The AIADMK propaganda machine has turned inwards.

The Sasikala-controlled AIADMK mouth organs – Namadhu MGR and Jaya TV – have begun targeting the AIADMK government led by chief minister Edapaddi Palaniswami and began circulating speculations that it was about to be dismissed soon.

Amid reports that all was not well between chief minister Edapaddi Palaniswami and deputy chief minister O Panneerselvam, Namadhu MGR, the AIADMK propaganda machine now run by relatives of sidelined and jailed leader VK Sasikala has launched a campaign against the government.

Another propaganda machine, Jaya TV also owned by Sasikala, has done the hitherto unthinkable and interviewed DMK leader S Duraimurugan, wherein he launched a frontal attack on the EPS-OPS government.

The message was not lost on the people and cadres – now it is war.

Namadhu MGR, the propaganda paper of the AIADMK, has begun circulating reports that the days of the EPS and OPS government were numbered and that three of its ministers will be arrested soon. A report in the Namadhu MGR speculated that the EPS government was about to be dismissed soon and TN was in for a spell of President’s rule.

All this speculation was rubbished by AIADMK leader and state fisheries minister D Jayakumar who said of late Namadhu MGR was becoming more like Murasoli and asked the cadres to discount what appeared in the paper. Jaya TV has become Kalaignar TV, he quipped to highlight the point that Jaya TV interview a very high and influential DMK leader, something that would never have been allowed during Amma’s lifetime.

But, Jayakumar was at a loss for words for a moment while trying to present a picture of unity in the two factions of AIADMK that merged. OPS supporter and RS member V Maitreyan had in a facebook post indicated the differences between the two camps – of OPS and EPS – when he posted that it has been three months merger took place, but have the hearts in sync?

Jayakumar, however, asserted that there was no issue between the two factions, which are now well and truly united. There are no differences he insisted and said that they were ready to face RK Nagar bye polls as and when they are held.

Meanwhile, the Madras High Court on Tuesday directed the election commission to hold the bye elections to RK Nagar within December 31.
