Tamil Nadu wants Naval station in Kanyakumari to strengthen security of fisherfolks

Chennai : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edapaddi Palaniswami on Friday urged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to facilitate the setting up of a Naval station in Kanyakumari district so that its presence would enhance the safety of Tamil fishermen.

Routinely the Sri Lankan navy personnel arrest Tamil fishermen and confiscate their boats. The Chief Minister was speaking at a function where the Prime Minister unveiled various road and rail projects.

Palaniswami said, “I request Hon’ble Prime Minister to establish a naval station at Kanniyakumari for ensuring the safety and security of our fishermen at sea.”

Praising Modi for taking bold actions against terrorism, the Chief Minister said, “the Prime Minister has not only leading the country for the past five years but is also the protector of the nation today. The entire nation is behind him and so is Tamil Nadu.”

Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam said, “From Kashmir to Kanyakumari, India is one” is a statement, which is repeated often. Today, there is a need, to clearly demonstrate this. The country, under the strong and steadfast leadership of the, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narnendra Modi Ji, is battling, external threats, in a bold and decisive manner.”

The deputy Chief Minister likened Modi to the Hindu God Narasimhan for his air strike in Pakistan to kill hundreds of terrorists.
