Finally, he is about to take the political plunge – or so it seemed with the word coming straight from Thalaiva’s mouth. Rajinikanth on Tuesday declared that he will announce his political stance on the New Years’ Eve on December 31, the concluding day of this round of meeting with his fan club members that began in Chennai on Tuesday.

But in the same breath he introduced an element saying that it was not tatamount to saying he would announce entry into politics but he said he would make public his political stance on December 31.

Addressing the fans congregated at the venue, the superstar said, “I will announce on 31st (Dec 2017) my political stance.” He said that he needed time to study and strategise.

His words electrified his fans that this time, the Boss was ready to take the plunge – finally. “We will see when the war comes and war is nothing but an election,” Rajinikanth said. The plunge will be to win the war and not just show bravery. Which is why strategy is needed the superstar said.

But, the ever cautious Rajinikanth introduced an element of suspense yet again by saying “I am not saying I would enter politics, but would only announce my political stance on December 31, 2017.”

And then he turned to the favourite whipping boy of all politicians – the media. “It is the media that is more interested about knowing about political plans than the people,” Rajinikanth said.

The superstar asked his fans to ignore social media messages containing negative messages and urged them to “focus on positive thoughts.”

Last time Rajinikanth met his fans in November, in his address to them he seemed to convey an impression that there was no hurry for him to enter politics.

But he has been dropping hints that he would enter politics. In May, Rajinikanth came very close to announcing entry into politics by saying that “he will choose politics, if god willed.”

“God decides what we have to do in life at every phase. Right now, he wants me to be an actor and I’m fulfilling my responsibility. If God willing, I will enter politics tomorrow,” Rajinikanth had told his fans in the meetings he held with them in the month of May.
