Rajinikanth came calling on Kalaignar, DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi to seek blessings for his political journey and spent two minutes with the former chief minister and his son and DMK working president MK Stalin at the Gopalapuram residence on Wednesday evening.

Coming out of the courtesy call, Rajinikanth told media persons that it was to seek blessings of the senior most leader and to wish him a new year.

The superstar who announced entry into politics on December 31 enquired about the health of the DMK leader who was ailing for some time last year and was hospitalised for couple of weeks.

Rajinikanth however refused to answer questions from the media personnel whether he intended to meet any other political leaders as well. Stalin said that Rajini meeting Kalaignar is not new. He told media persons that even Vijayakanth had sought Kalaignar’s blessings before entering politics.

But one thing the people know, whoever tried to defeat Dravidian culture have met with failure, Stalin said.
