Chennai : Tamil Nadu has urged the centre to link Ramanathapuram, Hosur and Neyveli with airlines services under the UDAN scheme. Chief Minister Edapaddi Palaniswami on Saturday requested the union civil aviation minister Suresh Prabhu to put these three TN cities on the air map.

In a letter to the union minister, the Chief Minister noted that Ramanathapuram has been included in the Phase II of the UDAN scheme. Rameswaram in Ramanathapuram is an important pilgrimage and tourism and gets tourists from all over India and abroad.

“Therefore, I request you to take necessary steps to start air operations to Ramanathapuram as expeditiously as possible by starting the bidding process,” the Chief Minister said.

Palaniswami also urged the union minister to make Hosur Airport operational immediately by getting the `No Objection Certificate’ from Bangalore International Airport.

Hosur is an important industrial hub in Krishnagiri district, which was selected under the UDAN Scheme in the first phase and it would be an engine of growth to the industrial hub of Krishnagiri, the Chief Minister said.
