Chennai : Now yet another alleged high-handedness of BJP leaders has come to light after a video of a woman BJP leader slapping farmers leader Ayyakannu at a temple in Tiruchendur went viral in the state. BJP worker, district secretary of women’s wing, Nelliyammal, was seen slapping Ayyakannu when he was distributing pamphlets to people about the state of farmers in the state.

The pamphlets were against the central government’s policy on genetically modified crops that the farmers say were against the interests of the farming community. Ayyakannu, 74, was slapped hard with a slipper by the woman and this could be seen clearly in the video.

The BJP workers and leaders denied the incident and said instead that Ayyakannu had abused the lady BJP leader and demanded his arrest.

BJP spokesperson Narayanan Tirupathy alleged that Ayyakannu was a fraud and that he had hurled abuses at the lady BJP leader. The BJP spokesperson alleged that Ayyakannu described her as a prostitute and had attacked her.

Ayyakannu denied that he had ever abused anyone and was peacefully protesting and distributing pamphlets outside the temple when the lady attacked him.
