The Communist Party of India on Wednesday hailed the decision to convert the Brooke Bond Road as two-way to ease the traffic congestion in the area.

“The road was made one-way in 2015 and the decision to revert back was considered by the new Police Commissioner, Periaiah,” CPI District Secretary V.S. Sundaram said in a release here.

“The one-way resulted in severe congestion on Flower Market and Mill Roads and other approach roads and the party has been demanding for making it two-way, which was discussed during Tuesday’s meeting too,” he said.

Stating that the newly opened fly over at Gandhipuram, originally meant to ease the traffic, was not at all beneficial to the public, Sundaram said that the original plan to construct three-layer flyover and a round tana at the junction was totally changed and now there was no link with other two roads.
