Film producer Ashok Kumar’s suicide is an indication of the real condition of the film industry, actor Prakash Raj said here on Wednesday.

Talking to reporters at the city airport, Prakash Raj said the suicide has raised many questions. “Nobody should resort to such an extreme step. Earlier also, many suicides have happened. But nobody noticed them,” he said.
Stating that the actors should not take ‘black money,’ he said the Government should take a firm decision in this regard. “In spite of paying tax, there is no proper safeguard for the film industry and the personalities,” he added.

He sought people’s cooperation to put an end to video piracy.

On the controversy surrounding Bollywood film Padmavathi, Prakash Raj condemned the death threat issued to actor Deepika Padukone. “The threat to the actor from the ruling party has raised a question in which Country we are living in. The Government’s silence on the issue is not right,” Prakash Raj said.

On Ministers’ reaction to actor Kamal Hassan’s statements, Prakash Raj said the Ministers were blaming him for speaking without any proof. “If so, it is their duty to produce the proof. They should not issue threats,” he said.
