The Economic Survey 2017-2018 has chosen the words of Bollywood actor Sunny Deol to explain the ‘Ease of Doing Business’ environment in the country.

The dialogue Tareekh Pe Tareekh, mentioned in the survey is to highlight the frequent delays in the judicial process.

ABOUT THE SURVEY:

The survey called for coordinated action between government and the judiciary to address the delays and boost economic activity

In the chapter titled ‘Ease of Doing Business Next Frontier: Timely Justice’ in the report, the survey puts a spotlight on pendency, delays and backlogs in the appellate and judicial arenas, perhaps, leading to lower business sentiments in the country

According to the survey, the rankings reflected government’s reform measures on a wide range of indicators and the next frontier for making business easier was to address delayed justice

SUNNY’S DIALOGUE, A COUNTERPART TO SHAKESPEARE:

The iconic scream by Sunny Deol in the film Daamini was Bollywood’s counterpart to Shakespeare as they represent two different forms of expression: the one loud and melodramatic, the other brooding and self-reflective, but both nevertheless united in forcefully articulating the frustrations of delayed and hence denied justice.

ANOTHER WELL-KNOWN SONG IN THE SURVEY:

The survey also included the well known song – ‘Mere desh ki dharti’ from the Manoj Kumar starrer Upkaar in the climate change and agriculture chapter

The survey mentioned that the Indian agriculture romanticized in this famous song underlines the Prime Minister’s goal of doubling farmers’ income which increasingly runs up against the contemporary realities of Indian agriculture and the harsher prospects of its vulnerability to long-term climate change

OTHER FAMOUS DIALOGUES OF SUNNY DEOL:

Yeh mazdoor ka haath hai, loha pighlakar uska aakar badal deta hai – Ghatak
