Hundreds of kilos of tomatoes are being left to rot in the farms following the slide in the prices of the vegetable. According to farmers, 16 kilos of tomatoes that are normally sold for Rs. 120 to Rs. 145 to vegetable vendors in the market, is currently being sold for only Rs. 60. This has forced the growers to let the vegetable rot in the farm. They feel they would earn no profit after paying wages for pluckers and transportation charges.
