COIMBATORE: Suspended Bharathiar University Vice-Chancellor A. Ganapathy, lodged in the Central jail here after his arrest on bribery charges, on Tuesday filed a bail petition in the Special Court for Prevention of Corruption Act here. The hearing has been posted for February 22.
The court denied bail to Ganapathy and Prof. Dharmaraj, who allegedly brokered a Rs. 30 lakh deal from an aspirant for the post of Assistant Professor in the University, some 10 days ago.
Ganapathy was taken to police custody for five days for questioning and sent back to the jail on February 16. Ganapathy filed another bail petition through his lawyers before Special Judge John Mino, who posted the hearing for February 22.
