Savings awareness camp conducted for tribal villagers

COIMBATORE: Postal Department on Sunday organised an awareness camp on opening savings account to the tribals around the villages of Isha Yoga Center on the outskirts.

Assistant Superintendent Postal Department, Coimbatore region, P. Sairam detailed about three major financial needs for Education, Marriage and Medical.

“Savings will help one to overcome these financial needs,” he said and explained about various savings schemes such as ‘Selva Magal Semippu Thittam’ ‘Prime Minister’s Accidental Insurance Scheme’ and Life Insurance Scheme’ to the villagers.

The program was organised through Isha Outreach, which has been providing educational scholarship for students from tribal and non tribal villages surrounding Isha Yoga Center since 2011.

About 60 students had received scholarship for this year with 12 of them for school education, 41 for college and 7 for Polytechnic education.

Isha Outreach had opened savings account for these students and encourages them to maintain savings account, the release said.
