Vaiko seeks apology from Union Ministers for Sanskrit invocation

Coimbatore : MDMK General Secretary Vaiko today condemned the reported Sanskrit invocation at the function attended by two Union Ministers at IIT Chennai, thus neglecting the usual practice of ‘Tamil Thai Vazhthu, (Invocation to Tamil Mother).
It was not acceptable to impose Sanskrit during the Central Government function in Chennai and stringent action should be taken against those responsible for the incident (invocation in Sanskrit), Vaiko told reporters here.
“Both Union Ministers, Nitin Gadkari and Pon Radhakrishnan, who were at the function, should publicly tender apology for the incident, as invocation to Tamil Mother was the usual practice at any government function,” Vaiko said.
The Centre was trying to impose Sanskrit and Hindi through various means, he said, and cautioned against awaken the passion of Tamils, who had already fought against Hindi imposition long ago.
