Youth gets lifer for murder of hotel owner in Coimbatore

Coimbatore : A special court here today sentenced a youth to undergo life imprisonment for burning his hotel owner to death in the city a year ago.
The prosecution case was that 26-year old Prabhu was working in a hotel run by Kannan in Udayampalam in the city. Kannan abused Prabhu for coming drunk and asked him to not to come to his house.
An enraged Prabhu came to the house on February 7 night last year and poured petrol on Kannan and set him ablaze and fled the scene. Kannan had serious burn injuries and was taken to Government Hospital in Theni, his native place, where he died on February 27.
The case was on in the Special Court and the Judge Gunasekharan today sentenced Prabhu to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1,000.
