A three-member expert committee had examined the ailing elephant a couple of days ago and submitted the report through HR and CE department to the court, department sources said.

Even as arrangements were being made to euthanise the elephant, which was adored by thousands of devotees and locals, the elephand died at 12 noon today, they said. Though the death was natural, a team of doctors will examine and give official version and if necessary carry out post mortem. The elephant will be buried at the farm with usual honour given to temple elephants, the sources said.
