CPI call for a united struggle to save the nation from Modi Government

COIMBATORE: The CPI on Monday called for a united struggle to save the nation from the challenges being faced from ‘anti-Dalit, anti-minority’ Government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“The party will chalk out a strategy to bring on a single platform like minded parties, intellectuals, Dalits and people from social movement, during the four-day all India congress to be held at Kollam in Kerala from April 26,” CPI General Secretary, G Sudhakar Reddy told a press conference here.
Stating that at present the struggle was fought individually and separately by various organisations, without having much effect, Reddy said that the need of the hour was coordination between all these secular and democratic forces to carry out a united struggle.
When asked whether this would reflect in forming a larger alliance for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Reddy made it clear that coming together for a common cause need not be a future alliance.

Referring to CPI-M resolution on having understanding with Congress, Reddy said that CPI also was also thinking on the same line and will discuss it.
As the Left parties alone could not fight where ever they were strong, but needed understanding with strong regional parties, like Tamil Nadu and sometimes national parties like Congress.
When asked about Tamil Nadu unit of CPI-M demand for recalling the State Governor, Banwarilal Purohit, he said that many political parties have endorsed the view, CPI also supported the demand, since Purohit was allegedly involved in two controversies related to women – college professor and a woman journalist.
Terming AIADMK as a “third rate agent of BJP”, Reddy said that an article in the party magazine has exposed the tacit understanding and it was now evident that AIADMK has become a tool and disrupted the Parliament in the pretext of Cauvery issue, to protect BJP from debates.
Expressing serious concern over rape incidents and attacks of Dalits in BJP ruled states, Reddy said that Centre’s attitude was reflected in the Union Minister Santosh Gangwar’s remarks that rape has been reported in few places and only the media has been promoting it.
On Modi’s advice to the party functionaries to not to give ‘masala’ to media, Reddy said that it was rather too late. However, party failed to take action against such people, he said.
The Congress will also discuss to strengthen the party, the base of which was seemed to be eroded, he said.
