15 chain snatching cases solved, three arrested

Coimbatore: With the arrest of three persons in the last two days, police today claimed to have solved 15 chain snatching incidents in and around the city and recovered property and gold ornaments worth Rs.10 lakh from their possession.

A special team formed to nab the snatchers arrested one Mubarak on the night of April 29 during a vehicle check and recovered 14 and half sovereigns of gold ornaments, two laptops and a two wheeler all worth Rs.four lakh, police said.

Similarly, police managed to arrest two persons, both brothers hailing from Madurai district–Ayyanar and Manimaran– during a vehicle check last night.

Police recovered about 55 sovereign of gold chains, worth Rs. six lakh, which were snatched from women in various parts of the city for the last few days, they said.

In total, police recovered 69 and half sovereign of gold chains thus solving 15 cases in this regard, police said.
