Led by former Kannampalayam panchayat president and DMK functionary, Murugesan scores of party workers were staging demonstration seeking a detailed inquiry into the entire episode, as the people were doubting involvement of some senior politicians, including ministers and police officials.

They were blaming the ruling AIADMK for attempting to hush up the case.

Since cases were registered against agitators, police arrested seven persons, including Murugesan and were produced before Sulur Court and Magistrate Vediyappan remanded them to 15 day custody.

Police had unearthed illegal gutka and panmasala manufacturing unit and recovered large quantity of finished products and raw material from a godown in the area, couple of days ago.
