Seven DMK workers granted bail, manager given to 3-day police custody

Coimbatore : Sulur Magistrate Court today granted bail to the seven DMK workers arrested and lodged in the Central jail on charges of obstructing police to carry out duty during the raids on a illegal gutka manufacturing unit on the city outskirts.

The arrested, including a former panchayat president Dalapathi Murugesan, have filed bail petition two days ago which came up for hearing in the Court.

Magistrate Vediyappan granted bail for all the seven workers and asked them appear before the Sulur police station to affix their signature daily at 10 AM

Meanwhile, Vediyaappan also allowed police to take Raghuraman, the manager of the manufacturing unit, who was arrested along with three other workers, to take into custody for interrogation.

In the meantime, the hearing of anticipatory bail petition by DMK Singanallur MLA, N Karthik, who was among the 10 against whom the cases were registered, was posted for May 10 by the District Judge, Gunasekaran.

Police has sought time to place their arguments in the case,based on which the hearing was posted for May 10.
