BJP seeks action against MLA Thaniyarasu, film director for inciting ‘communal hatred’

Coimbatore: BJP today sought action against U Thaniyarasu, MLA, and Tamil film director, Ameer for allegedly inciting communal passion during a debate organised by here by a TV channel.

In a petition submitted to Police Commissioner K Periaiah, BJP district president Nandakumar accused Ameer of referring to Hindu Munnani functionary C Sasikumar’s murder and violence thereafter, during the debate yesterday on the Tuticorin firing.

The remarks. the petition said, were an attempt to ignite communal passion leading to violence and also hurting the sentiments of a large section of the invitees,police said.

Similarly, Thaniyarasu’s remarks were an attempt to create division in society and promote terrorism, the petition said.
