Coimbatore : One of the disqualified MLAs, Thanga Tamilselvan, has suggested for withdrawal of the case, once the third judge is appointed, so that there would be byelection and the party can prove its strength, AMMK leader T T V Dhinakaran said today.

“I have given the nod for the suggestion, while others will continue the legal battle,” Dinakaran told reporters at the city airport.

Thanga Tamilselvan suggested that if the withdrawal petition is filed for the third judge against disqualification, there will be byelection and the party can prove its strength,” Dinakaran said. Accordingly, he would file a petition and others will continue the legal battle, he said.

On rejection of mercy petitions by the President, he said the President should reconsider his decision of all the seven convicts. Even Sonia Gandhi, Rahul and Priyanka were not against the release, he said. He accused Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy of giving all the contracts to his relatives with the regard to Chennai-Salem eight-lane green road project, which was totally opposed by the people of the district.

Dhinakaran said Palanisamy should visit Tuticorin and talk to the people on the issue.
