Daily wagers and casual employees of Bharathiar University demand pay hike

Around 550 employees of Bharathiar University who were drawing daily wages and consolidated pay staged a sit-in protest and tried to gherao Sunil Paliwal, Principal Secretary of Higher education who was there to attend an executive meeting. They demanded pay hike as per the collector’s decision after a committee meeting in 2017 whereas the Higher education secretary has said that 25 % hike will be made on the salary fixed in 2015 and a new committee will be formed to review fixation of salaries. The employees have threatened to continue their protests till their demands are met.
