Plea to drop six-lane greenfield project

Farmers from across Coimbatore handed over a petition to District Collector TN Hariharan requesting Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami to withdraw the six-lane greenfield road project connecting Coimbatore and Karur. They expressed concern over usurping several acres of fertile land by the proposed Rs2,400-crore NH-67 project. They demanded that the existing NH-81 be extended to save farmland which would also be cost-effective.
