Solatium given to rain-affected persons

State Municipal Administration Minister S.P. Velumani handed over a solatium of Rs.4 lakhs to the widow of one Murugan, who was washed away in the rain waters in Coimbatore a few days ago. The relief fund was announced by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.

The Minister also distributed Rs.1.27 lakhs to 31 persons, whose huts and houses were damaged in the rains. Each of them was given Rs.4,100.

Coimbatore MP A.P Nagaraj, Valparai MLA M. Arumugham, District Collector,
Archana Patnaik, and Mayor P. Rajkumar were present at the event.
