Tension as MDMK party flag found lying on the road

Coimbatore : Tension prevailed for a while near Koundanpalayam early Monday, when the flag mast of MDMK party was found lying on the footpath.

Suspecting this could be an act of retaliation by BJP and other Hindu outfits for the black flag demonstration staged by the party, led by its General Secretary, Vaiko against Prime Minister, Narendra Modi on his visit to Tirupur yesterday, MDMK local unit lodged a complaint with police.

Based on the complaint, police investigating and monitoring the CCTV footage,from in and around the area for identifying the culprits, police said.

There was a minor scuffle between cadres of MDMK and Hindu outfits during the demonstration at Tirupur, in which a BJP woman worker sustained injuries after hit by flag poles.
