Over 500 bulls and 600 tamers to participate in Jallikattu tomorrow

Coimbatore : Over 500 bulls are expected to participate in the Tamil Nadu’s traditional Jallikkattu to be held here on Sunday February 17.

About 600 tamers from across the State will vie for honours by attempting to tame and win prizes including gold chain at this brave sport, organised by the District Administration and Coimbatore Jallikattu Federation.

Tamil Nadu Municipal Administration Minister, S P Velumani, Assembly Deputy Speaker, Pollachi V Jayaraman, District MLAs and MPs, will be present to witness the event, to be held in the 30 acre space at Chettipalayam on Coimbatore-Palakkad Bypass, official sources said.

Necessary arrangements like viewers gallery, vadivasal (entrance for bulls) and waiting bay for bulls have been made and a 17-member medical team is kept ready for any emergency, both for the humans and bulls.
