Octogenarian woman seeks protection for her and land

Coimbatore : An octogenarian woman, along with her son today requested the District Collector to protect them from a person, who in the pretext of being very close to a State Minister's brother, trying to take over their four acres of land.

The 85-year old Ramathal, along with her son Rangasamy came to the district collectorate today being the grievances day and submitted a memorandum to the Collector, K Rajamani who assumed the charge this morning.

In her petition, she said that she owns four acres of land in Kuniyamuthur and employed one Sivakumar to look after it.

She was shocked to know that Sivakumar was taking steps to cultivate in the land so that he can claim the property, she said.

Despite lodging complaints with the local police station, nothing happened, Ramathal said and appealed to the administration to protect them and their land.
