Interstate Coordination meeting discuss strategy to be adopted during LS Polls

Ooty : An Inter State Coordination meeting of senior police and Prohibition and Excise of Tamil Nadu, Kerala Karnataka and Puducherry today decided among other things to strengthen the check posts and intensify patrols to prevent smuggling of liquor in the run up to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

The meeting was convened here to discuss common issues involved in the smooth conduct of the Lok Saba polls including the movement of contrabands across the states borders, issues of coordination among the neighbouring districts and pending Non Bailable Warrants (NBWs).

Tamil Nadu DGP K Rajendran, Kerala DGP Loknath Behra, Puducherry DGP Sundari Nanda, and other senior police officers of all States participated in the meeting along with the Commissioners of Excise and Prohibition of the respective states, official sources said.

Besides strengthening the check posts and intensifying patrols to prevent smuggling of liquor, the meeting decided to initiate special drive to execute the pending NBWs, keep a tight vigil on the movement of illegal arms and explosives, movement of anti national elements and to be prepared to provide necessary logistics for CAPF (Central Armed Police Force) deployment.

Other senior police officers who attended include Vijayakumar, ADGP, L&O, Sandeep Roy Rathore, ADGP, STF, Erode, Sathyamoorthy, IGP, Intelligence,.Easwaramoorthy, IGP, IS, K.Periaiah, IGP, West Zone, Shanmuga Rajeswaran, IGP, South Zone, .Seshasai, IGP & Nodal Officer Election of Tamil Nadu, DIGs and SPs of bordering districts including other states.
