Coimbatore : A total of 700 kgs of banned tobacco products were seized during raids on two premises in nearby Tirupur.
On specific information, police carried out a raid in a godown in Velampalayam and recovered illegally stored 450 kgs of gutka and arrested the godown owner Om Prakash, police said.
In another raid on a godown in the same locality, police seized 250 kgs of gutka and held two persons–Pappu and Suresh, they said.
Modus operand of the sales was the gutka was packed in branded biscuit packets and sold to the known customers, police said.
