Bridge at Kedimedu to be widened at a cost of Rs.99.11 lakh.

Coimbatore : The district collector, P Rajamani Friday inspected the spot at Kedimedu canal near Pollachi, in which a car plunged leading to death of six members of a family, a couple of days ago and ordered to widen the bridge to prevent such accidents.

Rajamani instructed local administration department to take up the works of widening the 7.50 metre bridge to 12.90 metres for which Rs.99.11 lakh was sanctioned, an official release said.

Since there was inflow into the canal attached to Paramnikulam Aliyar Project, the works couldl be stared in June, it said.

Rajamani, accompanied by SP, R Pandiarajan, told police department to erect speed breakers along the road, with installation of reflectors, so that the people can take precaution.

Similarly, highways department was directed to install proper lighting facility on both the sides of the bridges and also small speed breakers on the road.
