Guidelines for laparoscopic anesthesia

Coimbatore : Indian Society of Anesthesiologists (ISA) is working on to set guidelines and standards for safety procedure of anesthesia while performing laparoscopic surgeries across India.
Since laparoscopic surgeries are increasing in the country, there is a need for device protocol for safety standards while giving anesthesia, said Dr K Sudarshan, Head of Department of Anesthesia of GEM Hospital here.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a one-day workshop of anesthesiologists organised by the hospital, Dr Sudarshan, who is also President of South Zone Society of Anesthesiologists, said that the protocol will be devised after going through different types of laparoscopic surgeries and types of anesthesia followed across India and submitted to the national body for approval.
A total of 300 anesthesia specialists participated in the workshop, during which seven live surgeries and types of anesthesia were telecast, GEM Hospital Chairman, Dr C Palanivelu said.
