Coimbatore : Panic gripped in Irugur on the outskirts, when the fuel tank of a MIG-21 fighter plane on training, fell in an agriculture field creating a three feet deep crater and a minor fire early Tuesday.

Agricultural workers going to their work were shocked to see the 1200-litre petrol tank falling down. As a result a crater was created there along with a minor fire, police said.

The parts of the tank were found scattered around the field, they said.

However, the flight safely landed in nearby Sulur air force station, they said.

Senior Air Force officials and police department are at the spot, they said.
