The special train No.06769 Palakkad Town-Pollachi-Palani-Tiruchendur passenger became the first train to run in the newly converted broad gauge line of Palakkad Town–Pollachi section, as it left Palakkad Town station at 4.30 a.m., today.

The train was flagged off from Palakkad Town station by the Station Master at its scheduled departure time, without any official function.

A total of 106 passengers boarded this train from Palakkad Town, purchasing 44 tickets and the patronage became larger as it stopped at stations like Pudunagaram and Kollengode, where it was received by the Railway Passengers Association and various social organisations, an official release said here.

Connection to Palani, Madurai, Tirunelveli and Tiruchendur are as follows: The timings of Special Train No.06769 (56769) Palakkad Town–Pollachi – Palani – Tiruchendur passenger at major stations are, Pollachi Jn at 06.00 a.m., Palani 07.35, Dindigul 8.50, Madurai Jn 10.10, Virudunagar at 11.08, Vanchimaniyachchi Jn at 12.49, Tirunelveli Jn at 1.55 and Tiruchendur at 4 p.m.

The timings of Special Train No.06770 (56770) Tiruchendur–Palani–Pollachi – Palakkad Town passenger at major stations are – leaves Tiruchendur Jn at 11.10 a.m., arrives at
Tirunelveli at 12.30, Vanchimaniyachchi Jn at 1.09, Virudunagar Jn at 2.38, Madurai Jn at 4, Dindigul at 5.25, Palani at 7.20, Pollachi Jn at 8.45 and Palakkad Town at 10, it said.

Connection to Coimbatore, Erode and Tiruchchirappalli: The timings of Special Train No.06712 (56712) Pollachi–Palakkad Town–Tiruchchirappalli passenger at major stations are – leaves Pollachi Jn at 04.30 a.m., arrives Palakkad Town at 06.15, Palakkad Jn at 06.40, Coimbatore Jn at 8.05, Tirupur at 9.10, Erode Jn at 10.15, Karur Jn at 11.37 and
Tiruchchirappalli at 1.45 p.m.

The timings of Special Train No.06713 (56713) Tiruchchirappalli–Palakkad Town – Pollachi passenger at major stations are – leaves Tiruchchirappalli Jn at 1 p.m., arrives Karur Jn at
2.32 p.m., Erode Jn 4, Tirupur at 5.15, Coimbatore Jn at 6.25, Palakkad Jn at 7.55, and Palakkad Town at 8.25.

The service of special train No.06343/06344 will run as express specials with express fares while the service of special train No.06345/06346 will run as passenger specials between Palakkad Town and Pollachi Jn, the release said.
