Nehru Institute of Technology organised Two-Days National Conference on ‘Harvesting Innovation: AGRO-TECH AND FOOD FUTURES’

Coimbatore – The Department of Food Technology and the Department of Science and Humanities, Nehru Institute of Technology, Coimbatore organized AICTE – ATAL VAANI (Vibrant Advocacy for Advancement and Nurturing of Indian Languages) funded Two-day National Conference on “Harvesting Innovation: Agro-Tech and Food Futures” in Tamil Language.

On 16th October, 2025 the inauguration of the event began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony and Dr. P. Hema Prabha, Head of the Department of Food Technology, delivered the welcome address, highlighting the importance of delivering safe foods and commemorating World Food Day. In his Presidential address, Dr. P. Krishnakumar, CEO and Secretary of the Nehru Group of Institutions, emphasized the need to utilize technologies to convert food waste into valuable products, stating the significance of circular economy in today’s world. He urged students to explore innovation through latest technologies in food processing for sustainable production. Dr. P. Arunkumar, Principal Scientist, Department of Food Packaging Technology, CSIR–CFTRI, Mysore, Karnataka, in the Inaugural address, spoke on sustainable and intelligent food packaging technologies, encouraging students to adopt innovative tools and eco-friendly methods to improve food safety and shelf life. The Guests of Honor: Dr. P. Sathiyamoorthy, CEO, Moon Foods, Namakkal, Dr. Vidya R. Sridhar, Senior Manger & Food Designer, AMWAY Global India P.Ltd., Chennai, Ms. Vidyalakshmi Y, Team Leader – Quality Assurance, Schreiber Dynamix Dairies P.Ltd., Pune, Maharashtra, addressed the gathering and shared insights on emerging trends in Agro-Tech, food safety, and processing innovations.

Dr. H. N. Nagaraja, Executive Director, Nehru Group of Institutions felicitated the gathering and urged students to embrace innovation for continuous learning, while Dr. M. Sivaraja, Principal, Nehru Institute of Technology, remarked that student success defines the progress of future generations. The Conference Proceedings was released by the dignitaries. Dr. K. Parimala Gandhi, Head of the Department of Science and Humanities, proposed the vote of thanks at the Inauguration. The National Conference was deliberated by the Guests of Honor on different areas of Food Technology in Tamil and English languages. The event was attended by Academicians, Researchers, Faculty members and students from 85 colleges across India, who presented papers and posters various themes of the Food and Agro domains. Dr.P.Rajkumar, Dean, AEC&RI, TNAU, Kumulur, Trichy delivered a technical talk on October 17th, 2025 and valedicted the Conference along with Dr.Swarnalatha Dean (A&I), Nehru College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore. Best papers and posters were awarded with prizes and certificates and the Conference concluded with enthusiastic participation, vibrant discussions and the exchange of innovative ideas aimed at shaping the future of Food and Agro technologies.
