Drunken man drowns to death

A 27-year-old inebriated man who was swimming in a canal, drowned near Pulikundu here on Tuesday.
According to police, the deceased, V. Kalidass from Thondamuthur in Pollachi, was working as a coolie. On Monday, he was bathing in the Aliyar PAP canal near Pulikundu with his brothers and relatives. He was under the influence of alcohol, and refused to leave the canal when others left.
Kalidass was caught in a current and drowned. His body was washed ashore near Srinivasapuram on Tuesday. A case has been registered with the Pollachi Sub-division Police and they have started the investigations.
