The crowd that had attended the function in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the ESIC Medical College and Hospital were surprised as the function was declared over without playing the national anthem.

When the function came to an end, all the attendees, including the police personnel, stood up in anticipation of the national anthem. But, to their surprise, the national anthem was not played.

A senior police official, on conditions of anonymity, said that it was mandatory to play the anthem at the end of any Government function.
