Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan to celebrate Golden Jubilee

The Coimbatore Kendra of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan will celebrate its Golden Jubilee here on February 6. Swami Shankarananda Saraswati, Acharya, Arsha Vidya Gurukulam, will bless the occasion. H. N. Dastur, Executive Secretary and Director General, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mumbai, will preside over the function. R. Seshasayee, Chairman, Infosys Ltd., will be the Chief Guest. Sanjay Jayavarthanavelu, CMD, Lakshmi Machine Works Ltd., will be the Guest of Honour.

A release said: The Coimbatore Kendra of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan was founded by eminent Gandhian and industrialist G.K. Sundaram in 1964. This Kendra has emerged as one of the most vibrant Kendras at the national level with educational, cultural and spiritual activities happening round the year.

The Coimbatore Kendra of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan has completed 50 years of yeomen service to the cause of Indian culture, heritage and education. The Kendra runs two reputed schools – One at R.S. Puram and another at Ajjanur near Vadavalli. These institutions impart quality education to over 3,000 students. Apart from academic excellence, thrust is given to the holistic development of the children. A statue of Mahatma Gandhi has been unveiled at the Ajjanur premises.

‘Empower the Youth to enrich the Nation’ has been the Kendra’s guiding principle for education.
