Thirteen people have been injured as Train No.16525 Kanniyakumari – Bangalore City Island Express derailed in the early hours of Friday. No casualty has been reported so far.

The incident happened between Somanayakkanpatti – Patchur around 04.15 hrs. According to Bangalore Railway Division 4 coachs have been derailed. Bangalore divison officials inspected the spot.

The reason for the derailment is yet to be ascertained. People in and around suspect that it could be the handiwork of naxals as the place borders Andra Pradesh. Nearly 13 trains have been disrupted.

The cancelled train routes are , Chennai Central – Bangalore Double Decker Exp , Bangalore – Chennai Central Double Decker Exp , Chennai – Bangalore Brindavan Express , Bangalore – Chennai Brindavan Express , Chennai Central – Bangalore Lalbaugh Exp , Bangalore – Chennai Central Express , Chennai Central – Bangalore Express , Bangalore – Chennai Central Lalbaugh Exp , Bangalore – Arakkonam Passenger , Jolarpettai – Bangalore Exp trains today , and tomorrow Arakkonam – Bangalore Passenger train cancelled.
