Puliakulam wears a festive look every Tuesday. Residents get ready to fill their bags with all essentials required for the next one week.

Welcome to the Puliakulam Sandhai. The locality, part and parcel of Tamil cinema that was shot in Coimbatore those days, hosts the famous St. Antony’s Church and the Amman temple that attract a large number of devotees.

The mood of brisk business begins at the crack of dawn.Vendors set up stalls on the mats or tarpaulin covers. An important aspect of this weekly affair is that not many vendors offer polythene bags to their customers.

The weekly affair provides an opportunity to seniors and women who get together and hop from one stall to another to buy their vegetables and fruits at a much cheaper price.
