Disappointed with the Corporation for reportedly not carrying out the development works even after repeated requests, members of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) residing at ward 82, attempted to besiege the Corporation building near Town Hall here today.

The protesters alleged that development works including repairing the existing underground drainage connections and storm water drains, laying bitumen roads, covering the open drains and constructing pavement from Ukkadam to Town Hall, all amounting to Rs. 3.15 crore were being delayed by the Corporation.

“The Councilor of the ward, Mohammed Saleem has been repeatedly requesting the senior officials to complete the works at the earliest, but in vain. The problems still persist,” a protester said.

Police arrested around 50 members.
